Installing Git on Manjaro 18
Git is one of the most popular Version Control System (VCS) nowadays. Git used to share and collaborate on software development projects and mainly used for source code management. In this tutorial, you are going to learn how to install Git on Manjaro 18.
Before you start installing Git on Manjaro 18. You must have the non-root user account on your Server or Desktop with sudo privileges.
Install Git on Manjaro
Now install Git by typing following command:
sudo pacman -S git
Confirm the installation and check the version executing the following command:

git version 2.24.1
Setting Up Git
To prevent warning every time you should configure it perfectly by using your Git information
Now set the global username for Git configuration typing:
git config --global user.name "user_name"
Secondly set the global email for Git configuration typing:
git config --global user.email "[email protected]_name.com"
You can also change the configurations by editing the .gitconfig file. Type the following command to edit the gitconfig file.
Edit the above file by setting Name and Email as given below.
[user] email = [email protected]_name.com name = user_name
