Before you start installing Postman on Manjaro 18. You must have a non-root user account on your server with sudo privileges.
Install Postman on Manjaro
Installing Postman on Manjaro is one of the easiest things today. We are going to install Postman on Debian by downloading the latest version from Postman official website.
To download Postman run following wget command in the terminal :
wget https://dl.pstmn.io/download/latest/linux64 -O postman-linux-x64.tar.gz
Now extract the downloaded file inside /opt directory using following command:
sudo tar xvzf postman-linux-x64.tar.gz -C /opt
Create a symbolic link to /opt/Postman/Postman using below command:
sudo ln -s /opt/Postman/Postman /usr/bin/postman
Finally to create a application desktop icon run below command:
cat << EOF > ~/.local/share/applications/postman2.desktop [Desktop Entry] Name=Postman GenericName=API Client X-GNOME-FullName=Postman API Client Comment=Make and view REST API calls and responses Keywords=api; Exec=/opt/Postman/Postman Terminal=false Type=Application Icon=/opt/Postman/app/resources/app/assets/icon.png Categories=Development;Utilities; EOF
You have successfully installed Postman on Manjaro 18.
To start using Postman, go to
Applications -> Postman and launch Postman on Manjaro 18 or you can simply run following command.
On the first launch, you will see the following window for Sign Up using Email or Google Account. Otherwise, you can also Sign In if you have an existing account.
After signing in or creating the new account you are ready to start using Postman for API development.
